Name: Roger van den Oord
Studying: International Bachelor Economics and Business Economics
Hi everyone! My name is Roger van den Oord and I will be the Project Manager Career of the 53rd EFR Board. I spent my youth in Eindhoven, in the southern part of The Netherlands. After my high school I wanted to start a new adventure by studying in a new city, this lead to me studying IBEB in Rotterdam. Diving straight into student life, I joined student association S.S.R.-Rotterdam where I met my new best friends (JC PINDAKAAS) and where I did several committees. In my second and third year I began searching for a new challenge and found one in student consultancy organization De Kleine Consultant. I was active for a year there, both in the consultant and project manager roles. After these positions and finishing my IBEB bachelor, I thought it was time for my biggest challenge so far: the EFR board! Although I was not active as an EFR member before, I was always enthusiastic about the EFR and participated in various events. Ultimately the conversations I had with friends who have been in the board made me sure that being a board member at EFR would be the perfect way to meet my ambition!
About the position of the Project Manager Career
The Project Manager Career is responsible for guidance of students in their career perspectives and professional development. This starts at the very basis of orientation and ends with the EFR’s recruitment activities where students will be able to find an internship, job or side-job. You will supervise five part-time committees: Involve, Orientation Cycle, Erasmus Entrepreneurial Network, IBEB and the Erasmus Recruitment Platform (ERP) committee. Also you will supervise the Erasmus Recruitment Days committee; the largest on-campus recruitment event in Europe, which will take place in the end of January. Together with the ERP, they provide students with the largest, most efficient and easy manner to find your job, internship or side-job, online and off-line.
Besides the supervision of these committees you also have your own projects. Several projects include: EFR/KPMG Research Project, the Student Business Battle (in cooperation with the five largest study associations in the Netherlands) and Meaningful Conversations (in cooperation with SEFA).
As a Project Manager Career you should always keep a helicopter view over all your projects and be able to align different interest and capabilities of different parties. You will always be looking for new opportunities for the EFR to invest in and partners to collaborate with. Last but not least, you should use your enthusiasm and drive anywhere where needed.
