EFR Sustainability Summit: the aftermovie
The road to Transform your World
In September 2015, leaders from all around the world agreed that we need to “Transform our World”. They even settled on the to-do list: the Sustainable Development Goals. Importantly, they acknowledged that we can only succeed if we work together: governments, private sector, non-governmental organisations, philanthropy, knowledge institutes, and citizens.
On December 8 we invited students to work out action plans for national and international achievement of the SDGs. We offered then a platform to build on the many activities that they already had underway, link those so we could reinforce each other, and agreed on the next steps. Let’s transform our world together!
The aim is to have by the end of the day:
The special guests for the general interactive discussion were:
Economic Faculty association Rotterdam (EFR)
The EFR is the study association of Erasmus School of Economics. The mission of the EFR is to bridge the gap between theory and practice. The EFR organises study related activities for economically orientated students at the Erasmus University Rotterdam and aims to provide students with a unique experience using EFR's four pillars: education, development, orientation and network. We want to keep challenging students by offering them the opportunity to be inspired by the leaders of the world. We already were able to welcome mister Ban-Ki Moon, Desmond Tutu, Anders Fogh Rasmussen and Benjamin Netanyahu at our university.
Dutch Sustainable Growth Coalition (DSGC)
This is an alliance of 8 major Dutch multinationals, namely DSM, Shell, Unilever, Philips, AkzoNobel, Heineken, FrieslandCampina and KLM, promoting the incorporation of sustainability in business models. As sustainable business models are the models of the future, the DSGC strives to fully integrate these models into the future society by their Shape, Share and Stimulate principle. Having fully incorporated sustainability in their own business models, now they continue shaping these strategies, share their example and stimulate the debate and implementation regarding these models.
Sustainable Development Goals Charter (SDG Charter).
The SDG Charter is an alliance consisting of 80 different parties, including multinationals, NGOs, public institutions and others, cooperating to properly implement the SDGs in the Dutch society. The aim of the charter is to encourage alliances between all the different parties that signed the charter initiative.
