Attend the information session on either the 24th or 25th of May followed by the workshop “Intercultural Communication” provided by KIT (exact date will be known soon). During this session an information package is handed out to you and you have the chance to ask all your remaining questions regarding the EFR-iBuddy Programme. Lastly, the workshop is followed by a social drink so you can get to know all the new iBuddies!
The matching of the buddies to the iBuddies takes place around July. As soon as you are assigned your buddies, contact them by e-mail prior to their arrival in Rotterdam. As an iBuddy you can provide the international students with information about moving to Rotterdam (registration, housing, social life, ect). As an iBuddy you are responsible for answering the questions they have, or redirecting them to people or institutions that can help them further. You can also help your buddies by giving advice on shopping, where to buy a mobile phone, bike etc. Further information regarding this matter is provided during the information session.
Assist your buddies upon arrival in Rotterdam. Provide the buddies with the option of you picking them up at Rotterdam Central Station or a meeting up with them later in the summer. If possible, participate with the EFR-IBEB Introduction Weekend from 3-5 September. Participation for the weekend requires you to pay a discounted fee of 40E to cover the costs. Join the “What’s Your Name Drink” for the entire IBEB Community! Around October/November an iBuddy Pub Crawl and a reunion of the EFR-IBEB Introduction Weekend will be organized. As soon as these dates are known, make sure to write them down in your agenda!
