National Student Competition 2018
Are you a final-year Bachelor, Premaster or Master student and are you ready to compete nationwide? Then this is your chance to show your skills both against & together with students from three other top-tier universities!
On the 9th of May, four of the biggest study associations of the Netherlands will host the first annual National Student Competition (NSC). During the NSC you will spend the day working on 2 main activities: fist you will solve real company cases provided by H&M, KPMG, Meltwater & the Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS) and afterward you will have the chance to showcase your team collaboration skills during the nation-building management game!
Event information
The event takes place on the 9th of May. Selection is based on CV-selection made by the companies. For NSC 2018, participating companies are H&M, KPMG, Meltwater & De Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS).
Please note: this event will be held entirely in Dutch and therefore requires fluency or at least professional comprehension of the Dutch language.
Schedule of the day
The day starts at 10.00 with a general opening. Students will be divided into four groups for the company-specific case, for which 15 students will join each company. After the case a lunch follows, where you have the change to network with recruiters and young employees of the participating companies. There will also be the possibility of being selected for a private lunch with the companies. After the lunch, it is time for the management game! All 60 students will be divided 12 teams of five students each. This takes approximately three hours. The day is closed with a networking drink, so you can learn more about what it’s like to work at one of the companies and maybe you’ll even find your future employer. All remaining questions can be asked and victories can be celebrated.
Management game
With a group of 60 economics and business administration students from Amsterdam, Groningen and Rotterdam, you will compete against each other in teams divided over various states and you will represent the government of the nation. The management simulation consists of multiple rounds where it is up to you to make your nation prosperous and your population happy! Whilst working together with your own nation, you also have to collaborate and negotiate with other nations to achieve common goals. The management game is set up to reflect the dynamics that different business divisions in companies encounter during their work and forms the perfect opportunity to show your skills to the companies.
